Two Upcoming Special Event Stations
VC3C
This is the last week of the VC3C special event, which is to celebrate the explorer Samuel de Champlain and the establishment of Quebec City 400 years ago. As I have already mentioned Maurice-Andre, VE3VIG, has been activating this station along the Champlain Trail. This week I chatted to Maurice-Andre on 2m whilst commuting and he informed me VC3C would be operating from Green Island, by Rideau Falls in Ottawa. Paul, VE3CPH, a local archivist had found that Champlain had stayed on this island. Paul and his partner Jane, VE3JNZ, will be operating VC3C, with Maurice-Andre, this weekend from Green Island.
Following this weekend (26th and 27th July), the last day of the VC3C callsign is 30th July and this station will be put on the air again from the Ottawa region. Details of the event can be found here as well as under the QRZ.COM entry for VC3C.

Another special event is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the USS Nautilus’ journey to North Pole under the arctic ice. The event will be on the 2nd and 3rd Aug. 2008, from the Submarine Force Library and Museum, Groton Connecticut, where the Nautilus now resides. The organizer is Don, N4KC, who has written a book about the Nautilus’ polar journey and has details on his blog about the special event.
All the best success to the organizers and operators of these special events and keep an ear out for them during the dates mentioned.

Thanks for the heads up on the VC3C operation. Will probably drop in to see the operation or maybe operate for a short time with my FT817 and Buddistick. Your blog looks great BTW.
