My children had a great day with amateur radio today, without me. Their school, Castor Valley Elementary School, had been selected to be a school contact with the International Space Station (ISS), NA1SS.
I had to work, but my wife, Ginny, attended and told me the event was excellent.  There were a group of three amateurs, I was told, talking to the students and operating the station using Greg’s call VA3ITB. The school gym was filled with the children from grades 1 and up, as well as with parents . The local CTV News Ottawa team were there too.  Ginny told me the audio was very good  and everyone could hear clearly in the gym.

Details on the event, as well as the children’s questions are here.  Unfortunately, I cannot find anything posted on the CTV Ottawa website, although it was on the local TV news.

Thanks to all amateurs, as well as the astronauts, for making these school contacts wonderful and educational events.
